When humanity takes too much from the Wild it starts to suffer. For the Wild to be well again someone must be brave enough to raise their voice.
A beautiful book, with a powerful message, The Wild is an absolute visual feast of a book, as 'The Wild', in the form of a living beast, endures the effects of humanity on its inhabitants.
Beautiful, detailed illustrations of 'Wild' life alongside a powerful traditional-tale style story, will engage the eyes of readers, but also their hearts and minds as they consider how The Wild is treated and what happens as the story progresses.
Leaving food for thought about how the tale relates to reality, this is a book that will leave you smiling in wonder at the natural world, but also heartbroken at its treatment.
Ultimately hopeful, the message of the need to care for and treasure The Wild is what readers are left with, and hopefully the transfer to their actions will be the result of reading such a beautiful text.
I'm a big fan of Yuval Zommer's art and previous books, The Big Book Of The Blue and the rest of the 'Big Book' series, and 'The Street Beneath My Feet' being big school favourites, so it was a joy to be asked to be a part of this blog tour for his latest beautiful book.
Author Yuval Zommer graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Illustration. He worked for many years as a creative director at leading advertising agencies before becoming the author and illustrator of highly acclaimed non-fiction titles including the Big Book Of… series which has won and been shortlisted for numerous awards, including the UKLA Book Awards.
