Young cabin steward, Sid, is proud to be working on the Titanic, the greatest ship ever built.
Clara dreams of adventure too, but she’s a stowaway in the hold of a much smaller boat, Carpathia. Here she meets the biggest, best dog she’s ever known: Rigel, who is on his way to be reunited with his owner. None of them could have imagined how they would need each other one ice-cold terrible night. Or that an even more extraordinary creature might also answer their call …
Fans of this brilliant author's previous books will not be disappointed with this latest blast of a book, mixing historical fact with brilliant characters and a twist of fantasy.
I read this in one sitting on a train journey, hooked from the first page by the main protagonist ( a fiery, feisty stowaway called Clara) and her stubborn nature that leads her into ( but also gets her through!) her adventures at sea on the Carpathia, as she, along with an amazing canine character, Rigel' play their part in the rescue of victims of the Titanic's collision with an iceberg on that tragic night.
The familiar story is brought to life by interspersed sections of testimony, telegraphs, and narrative, making it a thrilling yet informative tale, packed with high drama but also sadness and shock at the increasing desperation in the messages being sent and received by the Titanic and rhe ships nearby that responded.
Throw a potentially sinister sea-monster into the mix, and this is a cracker of a spin on the Titanic tale, that will thrill fact-seekwrs and adventure-lovers alike with the blend of both it includes.
Magnificent story-telling, I truly love this author's style and writing, and rate this as one of the best books I've read so far this year!

Purple flare wraps can be worn as a beach cover-up providing both style and protection from the sun. The flowing and ethereal vehicle wraps las vegas nature of these wraps adds a touch of romance to any outfit.
