BLOGTOUR
I loved The Killing Hills, so was thrilled to be asked to be part of the blogtour for Mick Hardin's return to Rocksalt in this, the next in this great series, by Chris Offutt.
Recovering from an IED, and dealing with his own personal and professional demons, Hardin gets involved in investigating the murder of Barney Kissick, no good son of Shifty, and from the point of his agreement to look into it, things go downhill ( but the action up into the hills!) very quickly.
Swearing sheriff sister Linda makes a welcome return, and the action is ramped up with the arrival of special forces vet Raymond, who returns and aids Mick in wreaking revenge against those responsible for the series of murders that occur as his enquiries uncover sinister corruption.
With far more action, this is a great sequel, and grips from start to finish, with engaging and interesting characters, fast-paced violent action sequences, and a twisty plot that keeps you guessing. The familial loyalties and attitudes of the people and placecare described to great effect, and create great atmosphere for the events that occur as well.
Brilliant and great for fans of Joe Lansdale, J.Todd Scott etc, this was sent to me for review by publisher No Exit press, and I have no hesitation in recommending it as a great read this month. Check out what others have to say via their blogs/handles on the tour below:
