Vampirates 1: Demons of the Ocean- Justin Somper

simpsonrd

Thank you very much to UCLan publishers and Justin for including me on the blog tour for the re-release of the original Vampirates books in new editions (with great sailor-tattoo-esque cover art!), along with three new, further additions to the series.

I read book one of the series (Demons of the Ocean), which sets the scene for the rest of the books. Telling us of the family tragedy and storm that leaves twins Grace and Connor Tempest lost at sea, and with a sea shanty hinting at mysterious possibilities, the two are then rescued separately by two very different crews- one of pirates and one of Vampires - and now both need to adapt to the new lives they have on board them.

Connor is saved by Cheng Li, Deputy Captain of The Diablo – the notorious pirate ship, captained by flamboyant rule-breaker and pirate royalty, Molucco Wrathe. Grace, meanwhile, is taken by handsome Midshipman Lorcan Furey, onto a mysterious ship with no name, a blood-red deck and an enigmatic, seemingly absent, Captain. In a world of danger and secrets, will the twins ever be reunited?

The books are deliciously dark, atmospheric and action-packed...true swashbuckling adventures....and whilst on the subject of adventures, I was fortunate enough to be able to ask Justin about his top 5 adventure movies. Here's what he had to say...

The Vampirates books are all available through UCLan's website, here:

and you can follow them, and author Justin Somper, as @publishinguclan and @JustinSomper on Twitter. Justin's webiste is justinsomper.co.uk
